Where are we going?
Looking at this picture reminds me that many times we get so caught up in our daily tasks that we all too often forget to look up and see the beautiful, colorful world that surrounds us. We get so drawn into the path that we are on that our eyes fixate only on the ground beneath our feet. Our jobs and our day to day worries are like the railroad ties. They move beneath us in a hypnotic, rhythmic pattern that distracts us from the more important things in life. Those things do not go away. It is however, life, loved ones and moments that will never come again that will all too quickly pass us by. Where are you going? Are you on a non-stop road to nowhere? Or an amazing journey through this life to destinations of cherished memories?

It's in the eyes...
I took this picture as I was walking downtown and it is one of my favorite pictures. They say that the eyes are the windows to our souls. If that is true, we should all be more attentive and more sensitive to the expressions that are spoken with no words at all. Sometimes words have no meaning. Sometimes what we are really trying to express lies too deep within. Sometimes there are no adequate words. Sometimes we try to hide. Sometimes we are trying to live up to a certain standard. Sometimes we glow and sometimes we shine... and sometimes we can see that all that we really need to know is in the eyes.Sunday, May 25, 2008

The Upward Spiral
Open arms,
face to sky,
I start to think and stop to wonder why.
How can I make the most of this moment?
Where can I go from where I stand?
The possibilities, the hope, the peace...
and the courage to open myself
to becoming...
to evolving...
to moving out of my comfort zone
and into the upward flow that carries me
away from myself
and up
into a new life,
a new me,
and a better way of living.
This is... the upward spiral.
